Why God is interested in us’ by Paul Adefarasin
“Behave Yourself ” in the “Something is about to happen” series. Preached by Senior Pastor of House on The Rock Church, Paul Adefarasin.
God created us, and he is very much interested in what we do and who we become. He wants us to have dominion and be fruitful, he wants us to be our true self in Christ, prioritise his word and for us to know who we are in Christ.
God wants you to have dominion
The very first time God mentioned Man was in Genesis 1:26. Before then, he was creating a world for man where he wants him to operate just like him as he does in heaven. So he gave man one imperative that results in three other imperatives which led to the stature of operational dominion. God will never ask you to be or do anything that he hasn’t already given you the ability to do or be. But if you are not consciously aware of what he has given you, and who he has made you, you will disbelieve his charges and mandate upon your life, and you leave it to somebody else.
God wants you to be your true self in Christ
The more you know yourself correctly, the more you will become your true self in Christ. You should be busy finding out who you are. Some people have little idea of who they really are, and that is because people allow themselves to be defined by the definition or label of others. They restrict you to what they perceive, and you will never be only what somebody else understands.
Your perception of yourself has limitations as well, and there is much more to you than meets the eye. You are like the creator of the heavens and the earth. You are like the Almighty, the beginning and the end, the one who has complete integrity in himself and you are created with all-sufficiency.
God wants you to prioritize his word
In Genesis 1:26 and 28, God mandated us to have dominion and to be fruitful. Be careful not to absorb everything people say unless it lines up with what God said in his word. You should not care about what people think about you unless it is alignment with what God says about you. Be careful what you take to heart, and that is why Jesus instructs us to be cautious about what we hear and how we hear. Everything we hear must begin to align with what God says about us, if they don’t, we must not receive it.
God wants you to know who you are
You have to know who you are and you cannot tell who you are by looking in the mirror. You cannot tell who you are by sampling the opinion of your friends; you can only know who you are by sampling the impression of genuine God-given revelations. Generally, the best and only place to find out who you are is to look at Jesus; he’s the proper reflection of your real personal character, your real integrity and your capacity. Jesus is the seed within you, and God would not ask you to be fruitful if he did not know that you already have the seed in you.
